În româneşte i-au apărut nuvelele "Mama Egipt" ("Mother Aegypt") în traducerea lui Gabriel Stoian (The Year's Best Science Fiction.
Antologiile Gardner Dozois,vol.nr.3,editura Nemira, 2008) şi "Acolo unde cresc merele aurii"("Where the Golden Apples Grow") în traducerea lui Silviu Genescu (The Year's Best Science Fiction.Antologiile Gardner Dozois, vol.nr.5, editura Nemira, 2010).
Nuvela "Mama Egipt" are România secolului XIX (bineînţeles, una mitică) ca loc de desfăşurare iar personajul principal este Barbu Golescu (care pretinde că este "doctorul Milon Creţulescu, adjunct al Prinţului Alexandru") cînd se prezintă ţăranilor (aceştia poartă nume de genul, Iuliu Buzdugan).
"The Empress of Mars" (nuvelă, 2003), a obţinut Premiul Theodore Sturgeon și a fost nominalizată pentru Premiul Hugo.
Kage Baker (scriitoare americană de science fiction şi fantasy) s-a născut în Hollywood, California (aici şi-a petrecut mare parte din viaţă) şi s-a stabilit în orăşelul Pismo Beach, California unde a decedat pe data de 31 ianuarie 2010.

Prenumele ei, cu totul neobişnuit (pronunţat precum cuvîntul englezesc "cage") era o combinaţie a primelor silabe ale prenumele bunicelor sale Kate şi Genevieve.
A fost actriţă de teatru, regizoare, artist grafic, a predat engleza elisabetană timp de 20 de ani.
A debutat în 1997 cu "Noble Mold" în Asimov's Science Fiction.
"Una din scriitoarele cele mai prolifice din noul val de la sfîrşitul anilor nouăzeci, a devenit una dintre cele mai cunoscute şi consecvente colaboratoare ale revistei, cu povestiri scrise inteligent şi convingător, avînd ca subiect aventurile fericite şi nefericite ale agenţilor călători în timp ai Companiei ; nu de mult, a început şi alte două serii de povestiri, una dintre ele plasată într-un mediu fantasy, de un fast şi o excentricitate cum nu s-au mai întîlnit.

În 2002, a publicat prima culegere de povestiri, Black Projects, White Knights.
Cele mai recente cărţi ale ei sînt romanul Dark Mondays, o nuvelă, Rude Mechanicals și culegerea Gods and Pawns.

În 2009, povestirea sa "Caverns of Mystery" şi romanul "House of the Stag" au fost nominalizate la Premiile World Fantasy.
