IN MEMORIAM WILLIAM TENN (9 mai 1920-7 februarie 2010)

"William Tenn is one of the genre's very few genuinely comic, genuinely incisive writers of short fiction, sharper and more mature than Fredric Brown and less self-indulgent than Robert Sheckley." - John Clute, The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction

Dancing Naked: The Unexpurgated William Tenn, Volume 3 Noreascon Four (edited by Laurie Mann), NESFA Press, 2004

"It would be too wide a generalization to say that every SF satire, every SF comedy and every attempt at witty and biting criticism found in the field is a poor and usually cheap imitation of what this man has been doing since the 1940s. His incredibly involved and complex mind can at times produce constructive comment so pointed and astute that the fortunate recipient is permanently improved by it. Admittedly, the price may be to create two whole categories for our species: humanity and William Tenn. For each of which you must create your ethos and your laws. I've done that. And to me it's worth it." - Theodore Sturgeon

Immodest Proposals: the Complete Science Fiction of William Tenn, Volume 1 (edited by James A. Mann & Mary Tabasko), NESFA Press, 2001

"William Tenn remains — despite the years of subsequent work by other younger, talented writers — the supreme example of Swiftian satire updated for the 20th century and beyond.
Fueled by a sharp intelligence, a fierce sense of ethics, a world-weary cosmopolitanism and an abiding affection for mankind despite all its foibles, Tenn also possessed fine literary skills enabling him to get down on paper engagingly circuitous plots, jarring speculations and utterly believable characters, all forming eminently readable stories.
In short, he was both timely and timeless, a writer for the ages....My 1960s Ballantine set of Tenn's work has stood for decades as a core part of my collection."
- Paul Di Fillipo

William Tenn a scris relativ puţin, doar două romane, "Of Men and Monsters" (1968) şi
"Child's Play" (1947), "Venus and the Seven Sexes" (1947); "The Liberation of Earth" (1953), "The Custodian" (1953),"Down among the Dead Men" (1954), "The Discovery of Morniel Mathaway" (1955),"Wednesday's Child" (1956), "Bernie the Faust", "The Tenants", "My Mother Was a Witch".

"Four From Tenn", creată de Joseph Wigley, bazată pe textele a patru povestiri ale scriitorului, "The Discovery of Morniel Mathaway", "Bernie the Faust", "The Tenants", "My Mother Was a Witch"
