Reno-Sparks Convention Center
Pînă la mijlocul anilor cincizeci, Reno a fost un Las Vegas avant la lettre, destinația favorită a americanilor în căutare de „gambling and easy entertainment”.
Worldcon (World Science Fiction Convention) este convenția anuală a World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). WSFS este o asociație americană a fanilor, majoritatea absolută a membrilor săi sînt cetățeni americani.
Evenimentul care durează cinci zile a avut loc începînd cu 1939 cu excepția anilor 1942-1945.
Activitățile de la Worldcon sînt centrate pe socializare, comunicare între fani și între fani și autori. Din anii cincizeci WorldCon-urile sînt de facto evenimente comerciale în cadrul cărora se promovează produsele industriei nord-americane de entertainment. La Worldcon-ul din 1995 de la Glasgow la care am participat, am asistat la vastele operațiuni de marketing și merchandising ale WSFS.

În ultimii ani Worldcon-ul a atras între 3.000 și 6000 de participanți.
La Renovation se estimează o participare de 5000 de fani plătitori.
Cîștigătorii premiilor Hugo vor fi anunțați în seara zilei de sâmbătă 20 august în cadrul ceremoniei de decernare care va avea loc la Peppermill Hotel and Casino, Reno, Nevada.
Jay Lake și Ken Scholes vor fi maeștrii de ceremonie ai premiilor Hugo, secondați de Tim Powers, Boris Vallejo, Ellen Asher (Renovation Guests of Honour) împreună cu George R. R. Martin și Robert Silverberg.
Ceremonia va începe cu decernarea Premiului John W. Campbell for Best New Writer, premiu oferit de Dell Magazines. Apoi pe categorii anunțarea Premiilor Hugo, culminînd cu premiul pentru roman.
Atlantis Hotel
Comitetul de organizare se va aduna la hotelul Atlantis Casino Resort iar decernarea Premiilor Hugo și The Masquerade vor avea loc în gigantica sală Tuscany Ballroom din cadrul hotelului Peppermill.

Guests of Honour vor fi Tim Powers, Ellen Asher, Boris Vallejo și post-mortem Charles N. Brown (voodoo ?).
Special Guests : Tricky Pixie and Bill Willingham.
Cu această ocazie va avea loc și The Renovation Independent/Fan Film Festival 2011.
